Coalition Condemns Looming Government Shutdown

Phil Francis, Chair of The Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks, issued the following statement on the potential government shutdown:

“We are deeply concerned about the potential of a government shutdown, particularly during the holiday season when federal employees – like all Americans – are counting on those paychecks more than ever.

A shutdown will not only inflict harm on our dedicated National Park Service employees, but it will also put our national parks and public lands at risk, and impact visitors who planned to enjoy and recreate at national parks across the country.

Congress must meet its obligation to fund the government so that we can protect our public lands and support our federal workforce. We urge them to come to an agreement to keep the government up and running.”
