Coalition Applauds Congresswoman Escobar’s Letter of Support for Castner Range
Following Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland’s visit to Castner Range, Congresswoman Veronica Escobar sent a letter to President Biden requesting he use the Antiquities Act to designate Castner Range a national monument.
“We thank Representative Escobar for her support of Castner Range,” said Michael Murray, Chair of the Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks.
“Establishing the proposed Castner Range National Monument would further protect archaeological and historical resources and help to create more equitable access to the outdoors. It would also preserve unspoiled land in the Franklin Mountains that is home to diverse vegetation and wildlife.
“We have less than eight years to fulfill the promise to protect 30 percent of our lands and waters by 2030. We urge President Biden to use his authority under the Antiquities Act and take swift action to protect the Castner Range and establish the Castner Range National Monument.
