Coalition Supports Public Meeting Advancing the Expansion of
Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument

The Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks issued a statement of support for the public meeting held on the expansion of Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument and the permanent protection of Molok Luyuk (Condor Ridge).

Mike Murray, Chair of the Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks, issued the following statement:

“We support the protection of Molok Luyuk and applaud the public meeting being held to hear from the community about efforts to expand Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.

Including Molok Luyuk as part of Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument will safeguard existing public lands that are sacred to the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and help to improve access to the outdoors for the region’s residents. Molok Luyuk also serves as a critical wildlife corridor between the existing monument and other protected areas. Protecting this important habitat will help preserve biodiversity and allow for continued wildlife migration in the face of a changing climate.

We join Tribal, congressional, and local community leaders in calling on President Biden to use the Antiquities Act to expand Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument and permanently protect Molok Luyuk.
