Senator Cortez Masto introduced legislation to end the leasing of land with low to no oil and gas potential.
Coalition Chair Phil Francis issued the following short statement:
“Our public lands leasing system prioritizes oil and gas development over everything else. Leasing lands with little to no potential for drilling, in many cases on the doorstep of our national parks, impacts wildlife habitat and negatively affects the visitor experience. Senator Cortez Masto’s legislation would put an end to this harmful practice. We support the legislation and thank her for her efforts to ensure that our public lands are managed responsibly.”
