Coalition Chair Phil Francis issued the following statement on the future of the Land and Water Conservation Fund:
“The U.S. Senate’s action to make the Land and Water Conservation Fund permanent is a big step in the right direction for the future of our national parks and public lands. At a time when our parks and public lands are facing many threats and resource constraints, we need LWCF more than ever. But permanent reauthorization is only part of the solution – LWCF needs to be fully funded for the goals of the program to be realized. The House should act swiftly to pass the public lands package with permanent reauthorization of LWCF, then Congress must work to fully fund the program as soon as possible.”
