The National Park Service (NPS) has launched a new volunteer program in collaboration with the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees: The NPS Emeritus Volunteer Program, part of the Volunteers-In-Parks program, is open to all National Park Service retirees.

The NPS Emeritus Volunteer program expands volunteer opportunities for retirees and is not grade-level dependent. We want to support your specialized skill sets and knowledge by offering innovative positions in parks and programs.

Several retirees are already emeritus volunteers providing counsel and expertise across the Service, from research in Yosemite, to campsite inventories in Sequoia and Kings Canyon, to support for globally significant projects studying geologic resources, to technical support to protected area managers in other countries.

The NPS Emeritus Volunteer program offers unlimited opportunities to apply and share the wide range of skills and knowledge that you gained throughout your NPS careers. Please join us!

Get involved today! To search for Emeritus Volunteer opportunities, visit Volunteer.gov and enter “NPS Emeritus” in the “Key Word” Search Box. New positions are being added all the time.
